Registration

Registration Periods

Registration for CFR 250/590 is restricted to CFR students during the first registration period. To find out when the registration periods are, see the UW Academic Calendar for the quarter you want to enroll.

After the first registration period is over, the course is open for registration to all students.

There is a hard limit to the number of students allowed to register (a total of 48 from both the undergraduate and graduate sections), due to the limited number of seats in the computer lab, therefore:

  • We will not authorize overloads.
  • We will not give add codes.
  • We will not manage waiting lists.p

Undegraduate vs. Graduate Sections

If you are registering for one section or the other, and the section you are interested in is full, register for the other section. We will assign you to the correct section during the first week of the quarter.

If the course is full when you attempt to register, you have a few options:

    1. Attend class during the first week. If any students drop (usually there are several), you can attempt to register for the open space. There are no guarantees about getting a spot, but this is your best bet if you want a seat in the class.

    2. If you want to learn the material but do not need the course credit, and if you are self-motivated, you can use the course web site and sample data and work at your own pace.

    3. If you are self-motivated, able to work independently, and meet the basic requirements, you can sign up and get credit for an internet-based distance learning course. You will be added to the class e-mail list and will get support by e-mail from the instructor and TA.
