The LSA Analyst is an extension for ArcView GIS 3.x.
Features:
- creates reaches from streams, where reaches are defined by linear zones
of similar slope and azimuth
- creates multiple nested buffers for defining core, inner, and outer riparian
management zones (RMZs)
- creates "buffer management units" (BMUs): regions defined by position
within respective RMZ and proximity to reach units
- runs the Jason Cross LSA algorithm
for defining stream shading and large woody debris recruitment based on topographic
position and forest stand inventory
- displays reaches according to shading at different times of the day
Requirements:
- ArcView GIS 3.2 or higher (but NOT ArcView 8 or higher)
- ArcView GIS Spatial Analyst Extension
- vector stream data
- digital elevation model
- forest stand polygons with a separate detailed inventory data file
Outputs:
- vector reach data with stream shading and large woody debris attributes
- "buffer management unit" polygon vector data
